Life is short and beautiful. If you want to be a happier person, don’t keep on sulking about what you don’t have. Try being content with what you already have. 

These past years have been resilient for all of us. They were challenging and toxic. They have not only affected us physically but also left a negative impact on our mental health. To get rid of all that happened in the past, you need to start practicing a few new things that will make you a happier person. If you wish to be happy this year, you need to release some things and certain habits from your life. You have to get rid of all the toxicity and focus on becoming a merrier person, both inside out. 

10 things to remove from your lives instantly, if you want to be a happy person: 

  • Stop living in the past- Living in the past will not take you anywhere. Holding on to your past is a toxic trait which you need to get rid of. If you are always dwelling in the past, you will never be able to live your present or dream about your future. You will start missing out on the most beautiful moments of life. Forget about the past. Live in your present. Think about your future. 

  • Being emotionally dependent on others- Never depend on others for your happiness. If you can’t make yourself happy, no one else can do it for you. Don’t rely on others for your emotions. This way, you will end up hurting yourself all the time. Leave this habit of being dependent on others to make you feel fulfilled and happy, quickly. Learn to enjoy your own company. Understand your emotions and make yourself happy on your own. 

  • Your unhealthy lifestyle- If you have a disorganized and poor lifestyle, you will feel lethargic and unmotivated all day. Your lifestyle impacts your physical and mental situation. You must pay very close attention to your lifestyle. Change your lifestyle for your betterment. Wake up on time, do your work, eat on time, take some time for yourself, go out with friends, workout every day, and sleep on time. An active lifestyle will help you live a happy life.  

  • Not facing your problems- If you keep running away from your problems, they will haunt you. Avoid running away from them and try to face them. Only facing it will solve it. Gather the courage to face whatever obstacles come your way. Once you face it, you will realize how strong you are and it will definitely give you a sense of achievement. 

  • Holding grudges- If you are holding a grudge against someone, stop right now. Don’t hate anyone. Forgive and see how it works like magic. Forgiving someone gives you an inner peace that cannot be compared to anything else. Your grudges will not take you anywhere. Don’t spread hatred. Just try to be fair and forgiving on your end, leave the rest on to others. Negative emotions around you attract negative energy, which is why you should learn to just let go. 

  • Get rid of unhealthy relationships- Certain relationships don’t bring you happiness. Instead, they take it away from you. Get rid of all kinds of unhealthy and toxic relationships you are in. If someone is trying to pull you down, leave right away. That relationship is not worth it. Nobody should be able to define who you are and what you should do. Trust your instinct. If your instinct is asking you to get rid of a certain relationship then just do it. 

  • Your obsession with social media- Social media is a tricky place to be. If you are on social media platforms, make sure it does not control you. Don’t get influenced by negative things. Make sure you are not obsessed with using social media. Your obsession can prove to be extremely unhealthy for you. Many people have the tendency of checking their social media, as soon as they wake up. This is a really toxic habit. Get rid of it as soon as possible, if you want to be a happier person. 

  • Comparison of yourself with others- Never compare yourself to others. You will never be happy and satisfied with yourself if you keep comparing yourselves to others all the time. Everyone is different. No two humans are the exact same. You need to learn to be happy with yourself and satisfied with what you already have. If you keep comparing yourself with others, you will never be satisfied and it will bother you every minute of your life. 

  • Your strict and fixed schedule- If you have a packed schedule and you are not flexible to do other things, you will miss out on a lot of fun. Sometimes you have to learn to just set yourself free. Don’t make unrealistic and rigid schedules. Start taking some time out for yourself and do things that you love. Give yourself the break it needs. Don’t be harsh on yourself. 

  • Stop overanalyzing situations- Don’t dig too deep unnecessarily. Sometimes the situation is not as worse as you make it by just overthinking and overanalyzing it. This ruins your happiness. Stop doing this every time. Just deal with a situation as normally as you can and don’t read too much into it. 

2022 does not need to have a bad year for you. Get rid of the toxicity and leave the negative things behind. Start afresh this year. Your happiness is what matters the most and nothing else.
